WHEN YOU GIVE TO THE YELLOWSTONE GATEWAY MUSEUM YOU PRESERVE THE LEGACY OF OUR UNIQUE REGION

When you become a supporter of the Yellowstone Gateway Museum you become a critical part of how we, together, preserve, explore, and share the rich natural and cultural history of our region.   You have generously shown your support for the Museum in the past, we hope you will once again consider giving to the Museum as you finalize your philanthropic plans for 2024.

As we wrap up an impactful year at the Museum, we want to share some of the groundwork that has been laid supporting the Museum’s continued development as an important resource for residents and visitors alike.  In 2024 we:

  • Established a new collaboration with the Alpine Ecosystem Research Institute, a non-profit research initiative focused on clarifying the historical and evolving relationships between humans, mountain ecosystems, and their native species.  As part of this collaboration, the Yellowstone Gateway Museum has become the primary repository of Clovis archaeological artifacts in Montana, and we believe, in time, we will become the primary repository nationally.

  • Completed an initial feasibility study that supports the reality of growing the Museum into a major Destination for travelers in the region.  As such, the Museum will become an economic engine for the Community as well as remaining a steward for cultural and natural history in our region.  We ARE the gateway to an amazing region of the country, and many are eager to learn our unique history.

  • Inaugurated a Workshop Series that addressed the Epic Story of Humans, Wildlife, and Landforms in Park County.  The workshops included free community lectures to support discovery of our own “backyard”; involvement of our speakers in our school system through classroom visits and student-led interviews, new exhibits at the Museum to complement the theme of each workshop, and small-scale field trips to related historical sites.  In 2025 we anticipate supporting much larger field trips, as possible.

  • Provided a glimpse of our Livingston-based Sax & Fryer Collection.  This glimpse was a down-payment on sharing the local history this important collection contains and describes.  Getting this Collection fully catalogued so as to be accessible to our local community and national scholars remains a priority for us.

Below are the funding priorities of the Museum and Foundation for 2025.  Your support of any of these initiatives will directly impact the growth of our museum and the ways we serve Park County and the Greater Yellowstone Region.
